Q: Loose stools and frequent fevers

My son who is now 30 months old, has always had loose stools and frequent diarrhea. His doctor said not to worry about it as long as he is growing and developing normally and there are no other complications. He recently has been having more frequent fevers with no other symptoms. They are not really high but sometimes 103. His pediatrician says that he is healthy but I am worried. He says the stools are "toddler diarrhea" and will go away as he ages.

My question is, has anyone else experience this and if so can you please shed some light on it?

Thank you in advance,

Summer

103 is high enough to be of reasonable concern. It's possible that your son could be constantly dehydrated. Believe it or not, diahrea is also a sign of dehydration. It's rather odd since it causes the body to become even more dehydrated. Give him plenty of water and electrolyte drinks. I have never heard of "toddler" diahrea. It makes sense to get a second opinion when something the doctor is telling you just doesn't seem right too.

I hope that helps.
