I was diagnosed with acute abdominal pain three weeks ago. I generally have four or five bowls movements a day. For the last three weeks i have been taking stool softeners and have maybe one boules movement in ever three ta four days. For the last couple boules movements i have been having really loose stools with almost like a water blood inside. If eat regular food my stomach hurts with a pain rating to an 9. Now the upper right side of my stomach hurts constantly. What could be causing this?

Hello, and thank you for your medical question on e Health Forum.

From the available history, the symptom of post prandial abdominal discomfort could probably be due to Gastro Esophageal Reflux disease or Peptic ulcer disease.

Peptic ulcer disease, where in erosion of the gastric or duodenal mucosa can cause severe and sometimes intolerable pain. Pain is usually caused by the ulcer but it may be aggravated by the stomach acid when it comes into contact with the ulcerated area.

Treatment for gastric reflux, peptic ulcer disease would be via diet and lifestyle modification, weight reduction, physical exercise, and medications.

OTC antacids (Tums, Mylanta) or omeprazole (acid reducing medications) will help your symptoms.

You might consider consulting your physician or a gastroenterologist for additional evaluation and treatment.

I hope this helps.

I went to the ER last night they ran a battery of test. They are leaning more towards Crohns, or IBD they also mentioned cancer because of my white blood cell count high too.
