Q: Longterm use of Valtrex

I have had herpes for 25 years and have been taking Valtrex daily for the past six years. Every time I try to wean off it, I get prodrone symptoms that tell me another outbreak is coming. Will long term daily use of Valtrex damage my liver or cause other bad side effects? Should I work on finding an alternative therapy or just be happy that Valtrex actually works at keeping me symptom free?
