ive had this yeast infection since January, i have done everything to try and get rid of it but nothing seem to work. I took canestan and i have taken prescription medication both did not work, i have tried the yogurt tampon and my doctor told me to flush out my vagina with vinegar and nothing seems to be working. i do flush it with water every week to clean out the yeast or it jus builds up. i feel so self conscious and have not fool around with guys for a long time b.c of it. my ex suggested that it was b.c i masturbated too much and that i was dirty. he was a jerk... my doctor said that if non of those treatments worked then theres nothing i can do about it and im just going to have to live with a yeast infection for the rest of my life... IS THERE ANOTHER SOLUTION, I DESPERATE FOR SOME ACTION!! i would go out there and mingle with guys but im so scared that when i take my undies off or they go down on me its gonna smell really gross and taste horrible too ! what can i do ?i really want to get rid of this and not smell and not taste bad !

Ok, what have you tried?
How often do you wash-- I'm not saying you're dirty, but maybe you wash too often. Could your diet be a factor?

Have you been taking regular antibiotics?

Please please please STOP cleaning out your vagina. The vagina is a self-cleaning organ and douching with vinegear and water can cause an upset in the natural bacteria, thus allowing the yeast to continue growing. Please find a new doctor. One that does not tell you there is no cure. One that does not suggest douching. Doing it once with vinegar is okay, but using that and water as a part of daily routine or even weekly routine can upset the natural balance of good bacteria down there.

Stop douching. Stop constantly washing. Stop rinsing with vinegar!

It's messing everything up. Your vagina is self cleaning and NEEDS to have its own balance. There are necessary bacteria that need to be there to stop the yeast from taking over. Antibiotics and constant cleaning kills that bacteria and then the yeast takes over.

Get some yeast infection medication (just the normal over the counter stuff) and take that. At the same time, stop everything other than a simple wash in the shower as you would wash any other body part. Make sure you are dry afterwards and wear cotton panties with loose fitting clothing for awhile.

Don't douche unless you have to and certainly not every day; it’s so bad for your vagina. I agree with MOHSO, you need a new doctor!

Have you been checked by your doctor to see if you are diabetic. Sometimes this will happen if your blood sugars are high for any period of time. You'll get a yeast infection and it will just keep going until you get your diet under control.

I think I have a yeast infection I am not sure, its been about 3 months and I have tried over the counter things Vagisil, and monostat and they have not helped at all. I dont have a discharge that looks like cottage cheese but like a white film on my vagina on the outside that smells like Garlic. Which I find weird because I dont eat garlic alot. Anyways it is very irritating and it hurts, I try to clean it off with just toilet paper and water or it builds up and itches worse. And I have noticed that when I do clean it off It starts to bleed like the skin is ripping or something? What should I do?? I have a IUD and I am wondering if this could be a contributing factor?

Firstly it is important to understand that yeast lives inside your vagina and stomach normally (along with other microbes), it is only when you get too much yeast in there and it irritates you that it counts as a yeast infection.

You say you have treated the infection twice with no results. I want to know, were there really no results, or was it that the yeast infection came back shortly after?
If the medication really made no difference to the yeast infection then I would think that you do no not actually have a yeast infection, but instead you have some other infection which could be dangerous to your fertility. Your doctor needs to take samples from your vagina and test them. I do not believe that the medicine could have no effect.

Alternatively, if the infection went away and came back shortly after then this might be caused by a lifestyle or health problem. Your doctor should be able to test you for things like diabetes which may be effecting your sugar levels and "chronic" causing yeast infections. You may need to stop taking the contraceptive pill (if you do) and you will need to eat more acidophilus yoghurt and garlic, while cutting sugar and and white flour from your diet, either completely or partially - since this is what yeast feeds on. Some sufferers of chronic yeast inflections have done well to be constantly on a low dose of the oral yeast infection medication - your doctor should talk to you about this too, after trialling all other methods.

Lastly, Stop douching! You may wash your vulva (external) with water or maybe even with femfresh, but don't wash your vagina (internal) with water. Water has a pH level of around 7, but the vagina has a pH of around 5. Whenever you put water in there you are raising the pH level of your vagina to what the yeast likes. One reason your doctor may have suggested to douche with a water+vinegar solution is because the pH of that is closer to 5 which is what your vagina should be. If you keep douching you may be introducing more bacteria to your vagina, in fact, you may currently be suffering from bacterial vaginosis (no yeast, lots of bacteria) caused by douching.

Go back to the doctor (a different one) and get some more tests done and talk to them about all the things I've mentioned!

When you say cut out all sugar do you mean all processed sugar or all sugar including carbs and natural sugar?

yeast infection
Diet is a very important factor as well!!! Leave out any yeast-containing foods such as bread products (look at all the ingredients). Candida lives off of yeast and sugar- Therefore, it is smart to eliminate ANY sugar in your diet.
I am currently treating my yeast infection with:
-Hydrated Bentonite
-Caprylic Acid
-Garlic Extract
-Probiotics (Those are VERY important in order to build up your healthy intestinal flora while killing the bad bacteria).

Hope this helps!

I had a recurring yeast infection for more than a year. I would be prescribed Diflucan and it would go away for about a month, until I started my period then it would come back. My OB/GYN had no answers for me and seemed content to continuously prescribe me without even seeing me. Frustrated I set out to do some research. I read about the epidemic of antibiotics killing the healthy bacteria (what some refer to as flora), especially in the vagina. I have been on and off antibiotics to treat ear and sinus infections and bronchitis. In highschool and college I was on an antibiotic for achne. Most of the information I read suggested cutting all flour and sugar out of your diet along with my two favorite foods - mushrooms and tomatoes. Additionaly, probiotics were suggested. The diet is just not realistic for the rest of my life. I started the probiotics. At first I bought some from Walgreens and noticed no difference. Then I went to Whole Foods and got some expensive, refrigerated ones with 50 billion active cultures of bacteria per capsule. This made the yeast get better. I have been taking them everyday for about a year and a half. I will sometimes feel like I am going to get a yeast infection right around my period but as long as I continue to take them, it either does not become an infection or does not become full-blown. If I stop taking them, I do get a yeast infection.

Interestingly, as I began doing the research, I had also been going to the doctor to figure out why I have chronic sinus pain. I was diagnosed with allergies about 22 years ago and, like mentioned earlier, was prone to sinus and ear infections and bronchitis. 2 years ago I was tested for allergies and was positive to anything they tested me for. They told me I have non-allergy related rhinitis. I get frequent sinus headaches and dizziness. I see that these are symptoms of Candidiadis. What the heck?? I am confused, which came first, the chicken or the egg? And what am I supposed to do to stop the cycle. I go to the doctor for the sinus headaches and infections and they give me antibiotics, those kill the bacteria, strengthening the yeast, causing more headaches and sinus problems??

Is this theory flawed, and what in the hell should I do??

BTW - I have been tested and I am not diabetic.

chronic long term yeast infections.
i took plan b a year ago and after that i missed my period for 2 months and then started getting yeast infections around my periods. it was really bad! i've had a yeast infection before that.. so i went to the store and bought one of those creams you shoot up your vag. and the yeast would clear up, but then come back the next day after i had gone through my 7 day medicating process. i would take pills and they seem to work, but then i started reading more and more about this problem realizing that taking more pills could worsen the problem.. i had gone into planned parenthood to talk to someone about this and obgyn clinic. everyone just tells me that there's something probably wrong with my diet. i know there are things that yeast feeds off of. so i tried cutting those things out, whatever i did.. it just seemed like i would end up producing the same amount of yeast anyway. it's not normal to wake up one day and all of a sudden have these chronic yeast infections. my digestive system seems to have change as well. i usually poop 2-3 times a day and now i am lucky if i get to once. so i've noticed that part of my body working slower. gained 15 pounds within the time span of 3 months right after i took plan b. i gain weight so fast i have stretch marks now. i've read somewhere that pills like plan b are so powerful... the amount of estrogen in a pill is equivalent to a bottle of birth control. so i am convinced that plan b caused this stupid cycle in my body. is there anyone out there that has had chronic yeast infections that can give me some suggestions? i've talked to a better doctor recently now that i finally have health insurance. she said basically the same thing everyone else has said, but she actually is listening and im going to get some blood work done. testing my cortisol? and trying to figure out if i'm diabetic... but in the meantime.. if there is anything i you think i should know that can help, please let me know! thanks!

Hey, I have a serious yeast infection that is causing me alot of pain. I eventuially went to the gum clinic and they told me i was highly allergic to some of the soap etc i was using andI had thrush. I have tried all the canaston treatments does not help what so ever. I have no sugar in my diet and I have no yeast. Can I get rid of it no!

I have tried pro biotics but i have such bad skin problems that what it does when I take it is unbearable and never ending.

There has to be other ways to build up ur immune system slowly I am sure!

The morning after pill def made mine worse. I have just got an antidote for the morning after pill side effects from my homeopath.
I am so scared of taking this because homeopathic remedies treat like with like and that pill caused me so many problems. If I take it soon I will let you know how I get on.

She is also next week about to send me a remedy for thrush. If this works I will let you know. She is pretty good at what she does so fingers crossed!

In the meantime i have some special creams the gum clinic gave me to help the external stuff. I am also going back again in a month to see how I am and if my thrush has not gone they are going to see if there are any other options.

Ladies I strongly suggest you go to the gum clinic if you have serious probs with yeast one just incase its antything else and two they were really nice and helpful to me way better service and understanding than my gp!

Hope this helps and I will post some updates as and when I have them.xxx

You need to go to a different doctor for one thing. Also did they test you for a bacteria infection? I get Yeast infections a lot but I also get a bacteria infection that is the same symptons as a yeast infection. Drink lots of water. Cut out as much sugar and yeast as you can; things like bread and beer. eat sugar free yogurt daily if you can. Stop douching every day once every couple of months should be fine and only with a mild vinager water mix not strait water. if you use sex toys Clean them before and after each use. Yes before and After. Change your underware 2 even 3 times a day. wash your cloths in HOT water and a little bleach with white distiled vinger in the rince and dry on hotest setting. If cold water wash clothing put vinager in both wash and rinse. Do not reuse towels yes its more laundry and you say to yourself I just used it to dry off one day but you can keep spreading it back to yourself. again Hot water and bleach. And Another thing that you can try is Norwex body cloths and body towels. They have silver weaved into the cloth so it is a natural antibac that also will help with yeast infections. Just rince well and wash in HOT water with a little vinager and dawn dish soap. I am not a Norwex consulant but I do one the towels and they have helped me. Also if the doctor finds its a bacterial infection have them give you the antibiotice and then wait a few days to a week if you notice symtoms again go back in it may be now a yeast infection caused by the antibiotics which they can now give you diphlucan but see if they will give you a two dose pack you take one then if the symptoms continue you take the second dose 3 to days later. I alwasy need the second dose after treating the bactiral infection. Even if you are yeast free change your panties 2 a day and if you wear pantyhose wear only cotton crotched.

yeast infections
I get yeast infections almost every period. makes a soap called filthy !**@! (It has a dog on the front of it). It's from Hawaii and is all natural ingredients. I don't know what is in it but something helps my yeast infections. It sounds weird but I wash with it and let it sit for 5-10 seconds. It will start to burn a little but then the yeast goes away. I have tried other ones from there but filthy !**@! has worked the best. I've been using it since June 2012 and won't even go back to body wash I love it so much. Also I eat a lot more Greek yogurt and take vitamin c everyday. I used to get UTIs all the time until the vitamin c. 500mg each day.
