Q: Long term side effects of aspirin and Plavix for the heart

I am looking for informaiton on the following: If you don't have answrs, where in this country are they studying this and could possibly help me?
1. I have high HDL. My HDL 2 mos before my heart attack was 117. LDL was 67 , Triglycerides 54. My HDL has been as high as 120. I need informaiton on disfunctional HDL or whatever you think helpful.
2. I want to get off Plavix. I am afraid of the rebound effect. How do I wean off? can I increase aspirin while I taper off this drug? what are the studies showing about this? about Plavix /aspirin side effects long term.

Both aspirin and clopidogrel (brand name Plavix) affect platelet aggregation. However, they have different mechanisms. Any change of doses should be carefully done only by a cardiologist, because the decision depends on many factors, including the number of thrombocytes, blood pressure, previous damage to the heart, etc.


No data can be found about the long term effect of these medications. However, side effects can occur no matter the time the medication has been previously taken .
