I recently got married and having sex. I have been taking BCP for about 6 years now because of severe cramping. I take my pill every day at the same time (within an hour). My husband and I regularly use condoms for more protection. We really do not want to become pregnant now, but I get very little sexual satisfaction from intercourse with a condom.

Are there times of the month that are safer than others to have unprotected sex, in case my pill should allow me to ovulate?

Or are we being over paranoid by still using condoms?

Thanks for the help!

The way birth control works is that is keeps you from ovulating. So, there really is no "better time" to have sex than others. If you're talking about doing the cycle/rhythm method on top of your birth control, I don't know your cycle to give you tips on that.

If you take it on time every day, you should be fine. Any time you have sex, there is a chance for pregnancy. But, you are pretty protected without a condom at all times. I wouldn't call you "overparanoid," just super safe. But, you can take it down a notch and just be "safe." Smile
