Hi guys. I am new here but I am desperately looking for answers. Maybe not too much of an answer but help and someone that has been going through this. I am a 27 year old female who is over weight. I want to start off by saying that I do not think this is what is causing my problem. I started my period when I was 11 and I have abnormal periods for a good part of my life. At times they would be a regular thing and sometimes they would not be. More times then less they are irregular. I had my last son Sept 8, 2006. In November I had my tubes tied because we did not want anymore children. After I had them tied, my first period after it was really heavy and lasted for about a week or two. So heavy I would rush to the bathroom 3 times a night after I woke up in a deep sleep laying in a puddle of blood. I would leave a trail to the shower. Then they became normal. I have always had a 7 day long period. And they were 7 days after that first period that lasted for two weeks. I just chalked it up to it being because I just had my tubes tied. Fast forward to May 15th of this year. I started my period after not having it for 3 months. It was not a normal period though. I cramped bad and was losing golf ball sized clots. This lasted for over a month. It ended on June 17th after the dr gave me provera and I took it for a week. Then July 24th I again started my period. I thought my cycle was getting back to normal again but I was wrong. After about a month and week on my period the clots were getting bigger and bigger to the point that I would feel them when I was sitting there or felt them fall into the toilet. I would stand in the shower and they would fall and I would be bleeding so bad. The cramps were awful. I went to the ER because I did not have medical insurance and they did nothing for me but told me to see my OB/GYN. I was so sick at that point. Throwing up and dizzy and emotionally and physically drained. I was able to see my OB/GYN and was able to make a small payment. He gave me provera again and told me when I got back on insurance I can come in and see him and he will do an ultrasound. I stopped bleeding Sept 30th, I think due to the provera. I went to see him on wednesday and he just would not listen to me. He went on and on about my weight. blaming my 1 month and 2 month long period on that and only that. I tried to tell him that I was in pain and this was not normal for me. I have been over weight my whole life and never have I bleed for two months straight with large clots and was in pain. I tried to tell him I have tons of pressure in my lower part of my body. He just was dismissing my claims. He ordered an US on wednesday, but I think it was just because he wanted me to stop complaining and leave. I know there is something wrong with me. That is not normal to do what I did. The ER dismissed me also, and it really ticks me off because no one listens to my problem. It is a problem. I can not function on a period for two months. He told me he can't do anything for me. He said because of my weight I produce too much estrogen and the lining of my uterus is thick because of that and there is nothing he can do about it that I am the only one who can stop it by losing weight. There has to be something he can do. This is awful. I am aware that I am overweight, I am aware that I have an eating disorder, but do not blaim that for this health problem because I hurt all the time. Then today I went to the bathroom and I was spotting again and I am hurting even worse than before. Alot of cramping like I am in labor. (I would much rather go through that again then go through another one of them periods) I am taking pain pills that are taking some of the pain away. I made another appointment with another dr to get another opinion. One that wont blaim my weight on everything. I know this is long winded, but I have not been able to find a forum to ask about this. I just wanted to get it all out. I just feel like no one will help me. So if anyone would have any thoughts on this, please please please post. I just need to hear something. Thanks.

I'm sorry that you're feeling dismissed. You'll need a sensitive doctor who can help diagnose the problem --- one who understands both obesity and fallopian tube issues. I'd suggest that you look for a gynecologist who can fit this bill.

I feel your pain
I sort of know what you are going through. About three years ago. I bled for 52 days. It was heavy and clotty. I didn't know what was going on. I went to the doctor and they only gave me birth control pills to regulate my period which didn't work. At that time I didn't have any children. One day I was stung by a wasp and suffered anallegic reation. I was rushed to the hospital. Given a shot and benedryl. Which actually worked. My period had finally stopped. Then I remembered that I had gotten stung in the stomach by a wasp 52 days prior. Fast foward to As of Now I have been bleeding for a month. It is the same as before. Constant heavy and clotting bleeding. This time I know I wasn't stung by a wasp. The first two weeks I thought maybe my body is adjusting because I gave birth 7 months ago and had finally stopped breastfeeding. Now Im not so sure. The cramping and pain has began. So if you find a diagnosis or solution. Please let me know. Kotex is expensive.

HEAVY BLEEDING
I have been bleeding for 4 months now. I am 39 years old and the only thing the doctor can recommend is a hysterectomy. That is out of the question because i am still hoping to get pregnant. Would a D&C stop my irregular periods and heavy bleeding.

Super Heavy bleeding with large blood clots
Hi ladies. I'm in the same boat as you all. I'm 31, 5'2, 280 lbs. I've always been overweight and have always had irregular periods. I was told once that i have a hormone imbalance and that's why unless I'm on the b/c pill I'll always have a messed up cycle. I have gone 12 months without a period and not pregnant. I've been on my period longest was 4 months, so i went to the hospital and they tested my hemoglobin level it was 80. Normal levels are 120. so the doctor admitted me and did a vaginal ultrasound it came back and he described the results similar to a "failed abortion". I wasn't pregnant at all, it was just a build up of blood tissue. I was passing blood clots the size of tennis balls. He said he had to do a D&C, I never had a follow up with this doctor, I was supposed to go on the pill but he prescribed something that wasn't covered. so that was Aug 08 now it's Apr 09 and same thing is happening. My period started about 2 weeks ago, heavy at first, now I call it flooding. It's pointless to even wear a pad because I'd be changing it every hour. Not to mention the HUGE clots...they're red, not dark and soft and just GROSS...lol so I have to sit on a thick towel and stay at home! The Dr that treated me at the hospital did mention that my weight was a factor, but I agree with the first girl that wrote on this post it's the not WHOLE reason! It's so frustrating when Dr's won't listen compassionately. So, I'm going to go back to the hospital to get looked at again and hopefully this time get some answers.I just wanted to let ya know my story....hope you all receive good care. Have a good day.

i had a hysteroscopy and D&C if you read the articles on webmd.com it tells you that a D&C are only temporary for a few perionds. i wasd put on the depo and ive been spotting for three weeks (i cant even sleep with my boyfriend).
get a new doctor!if you are producing too much estrogen they should be able to give you a shot for that.
