I have been taking Loestrin 24 FE for approximately 6 years due to having my period for about 2 weeks, with excessive bleeding. For the past few months, my period has been a little irregular. One month I would get my period twice (both lasted only 3 days, however) and then some months I would get a very light period (brown in color). My last period was March 1, 2012 and was fairly "normal". I stopped the pill on March 26, 2012 for the week and I haven't gotten it yet (it's March 31). I did get it on March 29 for less than a day. It was just some brown spotting and then it stopped. I haven't missed the pill (been taking it every day since the beginning) and always use condoms. I did have sex on the 29 of March (I was off the pill but used the condom and it was intact). I'm not too worried about pregnancy but I'm worried if it's a health issue. I have been getting the symptoms of my period but no blood. My gyno (I saw her in March)and I talked about changing the BC for something else but, as of now, I'm still on Loestrin. I'm also on Meloxicam, dicyclamine (for IBS) and OTC allergy meds. Any advice?

The same thing happened to me in a sense. I was on Microgestin Fe 1.5/30 for two years. I always take my pill on time and never miss it, plus use condoms. I started having irregular periods and bad side effects like pelvic cramping on the pill.

My doctor decided to switch me to Safyral, which is like Yaz. Safyral is working so much better. I'm starting to think that your body can get too use to a pill and then it won't work as well. If you have been on that pill for 6 years, it may be time to switch? I would definitely go see your doctor. You could possibly need a higher dosage pill.

I did ask my Dr if you can build a tolerance to BC but she said no, its not like other medications. I'm going to call her Monday, though. Thanks.
