Q: Loestrin24 cycle change

Ok so I have been on Loestrin24 for almost a year. Throughout this time I only got my period the first couple of months then it disappeared. I asked my doctor about it and he said it was fine. Here's my question though; last month I missed 3 pills because I was in the hospital from food poisoning. Afterwards my doctor told me to throw that pack away and start a new one. Now this messes up my cycle obviously, so even though I don't get my period I still knew it was supposed to be on the sugar pill days. Now since the cycle is messed up I'm a little scared,...will my cycle regulate itself according to the pills?

Thanks!

Your cycle should regulate itself. Your body is probably thrown off from missing those pills. However, did you have sex at all during that time? If you had sex any time from the day you missed your first pill up until a full week after you started your new pack, there is a chance you are pregnant. If so, wait 14 days after your last unprotected sex act and take a home pregnancy test.
