Q: liver function test

I had a hernia operation in July 2008. Pre-operation blood test were fine. I took ketorolac for about a week after the surgery. (only thing I can think of that may have caused it) I went for a physical 3 weeks later and blood test showed liver funtion test was abnormal. I dont know what they were but it looked like 4 catagories. All the other items on the blood test were good. Hepatitis was also negative. 37 yrs old social drinker in good shape. Could this be from the that medication 3 weeks prior something minor and could it then return to normal? Dr. told me to come back in 3 months to re-test but told me not to let it bother me.

Thanks in advance
Mike

I think your issue is from the surgery. Certain surgeries like hernia surgeries, gastric bypass, and others can really cause your liver to act strangely. Medication could have caused your test results to be abnormal. Just continue to take good care of yourself, exercise, get plenty of rest, eat healthy, drink plenty of WATER, and ease up a bit on the social drinking. You may not think you drink too much, but back off until your results come back normal. I feel you will be fine. The one good thing about the liver is that it can completely regenerate itself.

I've been doing a lot of research lately on the liver. Earlier this month I was diagnosed with Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver. The GI doc said it was completely reversible since we caught it before it got bad. I just have to make a few minor lifestyle changes - LIKE SLEEP MORE, and eat a bit healthier which is hard to do when you have a 1 year old and are constantly on the go.

I hope this helps.
