Lithium and bipolar disorder
I have bipolar disorder and so far the very best working medication I have tried is definitely Lithium. I was reluctant to try it at first due to hearing about so many side effects, yet after trying it - I have not had any side effects at all! It works really great to stabilize my mood so I do not get too up or too down. Lithium, as far as I know, is one of the very most effective anti-bipolar drugs available. Hope this helps. karen

Lithium and bipolar disorder
I've been through a journey of drugs and (like Karen)am now very happy with Lithium - but that's me.
One disadvantage, I guess, is that it needs monitoring (serum levels) more closely than many other medications.
Go well,
Ray
