I really struggle to conceive - I have one little boy and have now been trying for a year for number 2 including 5 unsuccessful (drug free) IUIs. I am now starting on Repronex. I don't know why I struggle so much - my first baby took a year as well and was conceived on the 3rd IUI.

So far my husband's semen has been tested (apparently he "could populate an army" according to our doc and I have had a HPG but no hormone testing. My obgyn says that IUI bypasses the need for hostile mucus testing and that the solution for any answers that hormone testing are likely to be exactly what I am doing now which is why he doesn't bother. But I feel like I would really like to find out what the problem is especially if we are going to be asked to pay around $20,000 for IVF as next step.

Is there a list of tests that should be carried out as standard to try to identify what fertility issue we might be facing? If so please would you provide it so that I can go through it with my obgyn?
