I'm a 41 yr old woman who got a throat infection in January 2010. I went to my GP and prescribed Amoxicillin for 10 days. After a few days, the sore throat went away, but I started getting a pain in my neck--front left with pain radiating up to my jaw/left ear. The pain is generally dull and intermittent, with occasional sharp jabs in the front of my neck. My throat is occasionally sore, but not always.

About a month later, my throat was sore again, so I went back to the dr. He said my left tonsil was enlarged and put me on another round of Amoxicillin for 10 days. After about a week with no improvement, I went back and he then put me on Doxycycline for 10 days. The enlarged left tonsil went back to normal, but I STILL have this neck pain.

I went to an ENT last week who put a camera down my nose and he said I had an enlarged left Lingual tonsil. I'm now on Augmentin 875mg 2x a day for 3 weeks. It's been 8 days on the meds and I feel absolutely no improvement. Shouldn't the pain be subsiding somewhat at this point??

I just requested an appt with another ENT referred by my GP. Everythign I've been reading online has me scared to death about cancer! The first ENT said he didn't see anything abnormal--he checked my tongue and mouth, etc.

Thanks!

So, I went a second ENT, who said my throat showed signs of acid damage (I do have bad heartburn) and he put me on Prilosec, which has helped with the heartburn.

I finished my last round of antibiotics and still have the neck pain and my throat is back to being sore. I went back to original ENT yesterday. Now, I have to have a CAT scan of my neck tomorrow morning and then a biopsy!!

I also went to my dentist last week (routine cleaning) and it's possible I have TMJ, as well.

So, I don't know what to think. I've had no relief of my symptoms and have two very different diagnoses from two different ENT's--something wrong with lingual tonsils or acid reflux. Heck, maybe it's a combination of the two with the TMJ thrown in--who knows.

It's frustrating to have 2 different points of view. Hopefully I'll know more after the ct scan. I'm trying to not worry, but it's safe to say that I am scared.

I got my cat scan results. I have several bilateral nodes--the largest one is 10 millimeters at the anterior right carotid. I'm going in for a biopsy tomorrow of the lingual tonsil.
Is it possible that the nodes are swollen due to some kind of infection? I'm so afraid that it is cancer.

Hello!
I am newbie!
I think you should go “thehearingfix” which assist hearing loss treatment, improve your hearing, hearing loss recovery, hearing loss restoration. It’s best solution for your problem because I also have gone there. And now I am feeling well.
