Hello,

My question is, because of non stop training i failed to remove implanon from my arm now it is a year expired. I am going to have it removed this week but im worried, just having had unprotected sex with my husband i wonder if i have a chance of becoming preganant or if i had a chance of infirtility because, of what i have been reading on the FDA site. I am very scared, i want kids soon.

Hello,
Welcome to the ehealthforum and I am really glad to help you out. Infertility is not a side effects of implanon or when its expiry date is crossed. However it offers no protection and you can get pregnant when using Implanon.

If you had unprotected intercourse, then chances of pregnancy are there. For confirming the status of pregnancy by urine for pregnancy test (UPT),the most accurate way to test for pregnancy is to test by urine for pregnancy test after 7-10 days of your missed periods date.

I’ll suggest you to consult a gynecologist for the same and seek an opinion as this is for medical information only. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care.
