i'm concerned because I think I have a yeast infection because I have redness, swelling, and itchiness around my vagina. I have read online and I'm pretty sure that it is a yeast infection because I have had the same partner for about 3 years now and we both have been checked for STDs and we don't have any. So it couldn't be an STD. Also, I read online that a yeast infection can be caused by pregnancy.

I have been taking birth control pills for about 2 years now. My boyfriend and I went camping and had sex while I was on my placebo pills (after my period ended). We didn't have condoms, but he pulled out. I started my new pack of pills like I always do.

I didn't worry about the yeast infection being pregancy related until now because I noticed a few dots of blood the last time I used the bathroom. I know that spotting is definately a sign of pregnancy, especially since I just had my period. I'm just really unsure because i've ALWAYS been really responsible with being on time with my pills. The likelihood of pregnancy the would be so slim but I am freaking out!!!!

Hi,
Welcome to ehealthforum,
If you are regular with your birth control pills, then chances of pregnancy can be ruled out (but not completely). The yeast infection can occur even without pregnancy. If vaginal infection is severe, it can also cause spotting. You should consider visiting your doctor/gynecologist for examination and vaginal swab/smear test to identify causative agent and get started on treatment as appropriate. If you are sexually active, get your partner also treated simultaneously to prevent chances of re-infection and avoid having unprotected intercourse while both of you are on treatment course.
If you suspect to be pregnant, look out for development of any new symptoms suggestive of early pregnancy, and, consider visiting your doctor/gynecologist at the earliest for further examination (to confirm pregnancy related changes/signs in body) and blood/serum HCG level test (to confirm/rule out pregnancy accurately).
Take care.

Okay, now I'm worried again. It's a week before my period, and I spotted. Not much just a little bit. I took two First Response pregnancy tests they were both negative, but they were the Rapid Results, that don't let you know before your missed period (So stupid!) I'm really scared. I've taken my birth control regularly all month, I don't know what else the spotting could be from!
