Q: Likelihood of HIV infection and unrelated health issues
asked by: DoctorQuestion on March 17th, 2009
i had sex with a prostitute about 7 weeks ago. i did use condom, but as i put on the condom my erection was gone, then i just pushed it into her vagina and got penetrated.. ( partially erect during penetration).but as i pull out after ejaculation my penis was fully covered by condom.
aslo i did fingering before sex for about 10 secs. (i had small skin peeled out of my nail bed)no fresh,no bleeding, very small cuticles.

what is the risk i might be hiv infected?

just before 4 days after sex i had common cold for 3 days(no fever,no headache),then after about 2 weeks little bit of rashes came on my cheek(i used moisturizer and was gone).about after 4th week i had headache and maliase for about 2 days. after that my muscle began to ache and aches till now.now i had fever for about 1 day and sore throat for 3 days.
could these symptoms be hiv related?

According to the data you provided, the chances that you are infected are minimal because you did not mention any of the usual ways of transmission: contact of body fluids (blood, semen). The condom might have protected you from HIV as well as other sexually transmitted diseases. The symptoms you reported might be related to other health problems.

You might want to visit your doctor to check for other sexually transmitted diseases. Having a physical exam for the inflamed throat is also recommended.
