Bone Cancer Answer A5476

Current medical status: i have a lump on the left side of my left leg about 6 inches up from my ankle. i have pain in my knee and hip that comes and gos.And its not so much of a stinging sharp pain, its more of an ache.it sometimes comes in my ankle as well

The dimensions of the lump would have been helpful. If the lump has appeared lately and grows constantly within weeks, then there is a possibility that a bone cancer has appeared. The lump should not hurt, except if it pressures the surrounding tissues and nerves. The softness of the lump might help with the origin of the tumor. Bone cancer is presented with a very hard tumor that seems as if it is attached to the base. If the lump can be moved freely and is rather soft, then the tumor might originate from fibrous or fat tissue. In all these cases, the tumor might be benign or malignant. It willl be diagnosed with an X-ray in the case of bone cancer, and the potential malignancy might be determined with a biopsy.

If the lump is small, and it is a little reddish and hot, then a local inflammation might have occurred.
An immediate visit to a family doctor and further referral to an orthopedic surgeon, if needed, is recommended.
