Q: Lightheadedness after quitting smoking

I quit smoking about two weeks ago and ever since I quit, I have been feeling lightheaded. This feeling comes and goes. At times the feeling has gotten worse to the point of feeling so dizzy that it feels like the world is moving around me and I lose balance. This has happened to me twice while driving. Very scary feeling. I have CAD. I had a heart attack two years ago in which the doctor said No damage was done to the heart. I also have type 2 diabetes that is under control... A1C is 5.0.

With those problems why would you think quitting smoking would be the cause?? Not smoking is the natural and healthy thing.

If it were the natural thing to do, babies would be born with a cigarette in their mouths.

Go to a doctor and get checked out. I doubt very much it is the fact you are not smoking anymore that causes what you describe.

Why you feel dizzy
The fact of the matter is that once you quit smoking and your lungs start getting rid of the junk, you have more of an oygen supply. Light-headedness is not unsual but should pass in time. I suggest seeing your physician if the symptoms do not subside.

Another reason for lightheadness is the fact that you are not constantly dumping glucose into your blood with each smoke. That is the appetite suppresant effect of smoking. Try eating several small HGI meals throughout the day. Being a diabetic I would definitely keep up on my blood sugar levels if I were you.
