Q: Lighter periods

The last 4 months I have gone from heavy periods lasting 5-7 days to one's lasting 1 or 2. They are painful and more clotted than usual. I'm unable to get pregnant so there's not anything like that but it's worrying me now.
Any suggestions or ideas??
