How often does a 1/2 inch or more difference in leg length necessitate hip surgery?

Does the shorter leg lead to problems in the same hip?

What are the symptoms?

For me - the pain is in the below the hip - the hip joint itself pops and crackles.

I am a otherwise healthy, athletic 48 yr old male.

hard to get surgery
I'm pretty sure 1/2 an inch is not enough to qualify you to be a candidate for surgery, but go talk to your doctor about it and if not you can do physical therapy to learn to realign your body and work to build up the muscles that will keep you in alignment.
