Question My four year old has had her regular well checks and has been screened for vision and hearing in preschool. She was rescreened, though, sence attending new school. The nurse let me know at first that she could not hear all the sounds in her left ear and was having trubble focussing with left eye. It was noted that she assumed my daughter was just bored with the whole process and wasn't paying much attention. I spoke with the nurse and asked that she was rescreened. About 4 weeks later now, I recieved a letter stating the exact same concerns. I made a dr.'s apt. for refferals to and audiologist and eye dr. I just finnished reading about the functions of the lateral sides of the brain and am trying to research possible causes for her symptoms. She does not have any pain nor has congestion. I don't understand how this could be overlooked by all MDs sence birth, which makes be wonder if something could have happened to her, causing her to lose function in her right side of her brain?.. or just her left eye and ear????? I am a single mom and she has always been in my care exept when I'm at work. She has never had trama to her head. Although she did have an acute ear infeftion at 6 mo.s which was cleared with amoxicilin. Her dr. apt is next week. This ordeal has me questioning everything..... This could have something to do with her speech (truble with pronouncing 'J's and 'S's and 'L's) and maby with her clumsyness.
