Q: LEEP procedure

I was told by my doctor last year that I had mild dysplasia. I completed the colposcopy and then the cryo treatment to freeze off the abnormal cells. My follow up pap exams were normal after the treatment, but now (a year later) I have been told that I have mild dysplasia AGAIN and this time it is inside the cervical canal, meaning that I need to have the LEEP surgery. I only have one sex partner and I had the Gardasil HPV shots, so I don't know why I am still getting dysplasia. Any suggestions?

I am also really scared of having this surgery, (the freezing treatment was bad enough, causing several weeks of smelly, watery discharge afterwards), and I am wondering if anyone could give me an idea of what the LEEP procedure is like. I now that they numb the cervix and burn off a sample of tissue. This sounds horrible. Even if I have the surgery, will I still continue to get dysplasia? I don't want to have to keep going through these treatments every year if they're not going to get rid of the cells.

It is nothing. I had it done 4 days ago and it was quick and simple. It is only the mental state of getting a needle to freeze up there that is the problem. I had a few mild cramps that went away with advil and some itcing that is easliy cured with fungal cream. My only concern is the itcing, it is getting a bit worse and feels like a mild yeast infection. If it is how can I treat it without using the cream that needs to be inserted?
I took off a few days of work becuase of reading all the dramatics on blogs but honestly I could of gone to work the same day.
I had High Grade dysplasia and encourage everyone to stop worring, it is quick and simple Smile
