Hi,

I'm 24 and I have a lazy. I'm beginning to seriously consider having surgery to correct it, and would like to ask a few questions, hopefully someone who has had it done can help.

1) How much is it likely to cost? I live in the UK and know I could probably have it done on the NHS, but I would probably pay to have is done sooner.
2) Is 24 too late for treatment?
3) Are the results good?
4) How long does the surgery and subsequent treatment take? Months? Weeks? Any time off work needed?
5) Will I need to wear a patch or something for a period after?
6) Should it be combined with laser eye surgery to sort out the short sightedness?
7) Any recommendations for who I should have the treatment with?

Many Thanks

Extremely eHealthy
The best chance of being cured is when the disease is diagnosed and treated before the age of 2.
Recent medical research has proven that amblyopia is successfully treated up to the age of 17.
Still, improvements are possible at any age with proper treatment, requiring more effort including vision therapy (vision therapy tends to be the most effective treatment for older people with lazy eye).
Surgical treatment with vision therapy should give the best results.
Laser therapy can be beneficial since can correct your refractory problem (nearsightedness).
