Can u please help. I have foolishly been abusing laxatives for 15 years now( 50 to 60 a day). Within the last month i have had blood tests showing very low potassium, haemoglobin & an increased ferretin level. Had an ultrasound which mentioned a 7mm hyperechoic mass however a suggestion that in a few mnths I have another us to ensure stable size. It was also noted on my ultrasound distended loops of bowels. Yet on my ct scan all was normal. However I do have been in my abdomen right flank pain. I would also like to add i have pain in my chest and have noticed many a time my heart skipping a beat. However, I must admit all these problems are related to the laxative abuse and figure if i stop it will all clear up.

laxative abuse
hello sweetie, you have 2 stop taking so many laxatives, and start eating fruit. as an abuser myself, i find that withdrawing altogether from laxatives is impossible, and so from morning until evening time eat nothing but fruit which helps my digestive system a bit. I would recommend that you use supossitories to relieve you, when you feel constipated, as it is less "harsh" on your body. Its ridiculous what we do to our body, and we have to stop or else die. I woke up today thinking i was gonna die from dehydration and heart aches, its not worth it. !!!

YOU CAN STOP YOUR LAXATIVE ABUSE - I'VE DONE IT!
DO NOT USE SUPPOSITORIES!!! I too had a laxative addiction as a result of IBS and was also using suppositories. While the suppositories may work a little at first, they are similar to laxatives where you will become dependent on them as well. The laxatives are taking away your body's natural peristalsis in your colon and taking suppositories would do the same to your rectum. I was addicted to laxatives for 5 years and while I was nowhere near 50 - 60 a day, I was taking 17 a day and had multiple doctors recommending surgery to remove my colon. Thank goodness I did not opt for the surgery. After years of being dependent on the laxatives and suppositories, I found a massage therapist that worked on my abdomen and whom suggested taking a tablespoon of olive oil in the morning and at night which worked! I remember the night I first went on my own because of the olive oil, I cried for hours. However, a month later I ran into some constipation troubles and tried a colon cleanse for 3 days and have been going every day since. If you would like to give me your e-mail on this post, I will e-mail you the name of the product.

Also, I recommend drinking V8 juice everyday as well as eating lots of broccoli and fruits and vegetables high in fiber. I want to let you know now that this will not be an easy battle. There will be many days after you stop the laxatives that you will feel bloated and constipated and unable to move. Although it will seem impossible, you have to stay strong and pull through it. To prevent temptation, throw all of your laxatives and suppositories away now! Exercise is important too. If you can, walk for an hour or more each day. This will get your body moving and stimulate the muscles inside of you including your colon. Drink lots of water. And even meditate. It may sound crazy, but it helps to clear your mind and THINK POSITIVE!!!

You can do this! It's going to be a tough journey, but I promise you, you will pull through!!!
