Hello Sir/Madam,

Please help me, I’m 30 years old, my period is usually for 28 days but when started trying for the pregnancy my period is getting late for 7 days which is 35 days from past 2 months(Nov 1st and Dec 5th) . Is there is any problem going on internally. I consult the doctor on Nov 30th she said I have to try for at least one year, but I’m getting scared why is it happening. I need to see doctor again or I need to go for some tests. I’m ovulating or not. I’m checking the ovulation calendar in the online to know the ovulation time also.

Thanks for your help, I appreciate your answers and your valuable time.

Konda, It is not normal for your cycle to stretch to 35 days just because you are TTC. 35 days are however still at the outside edge of a normal cycle.

Your doctor will not consider infertility before you tried to conceive for at least a year. 85% on couples trying to get pregnant will be successful after 12 months.

A normal ovulation calendar does not help when this happens. You will have to use an ovulation detection kit or learn to determine your ovulation using basal body temperature (BBT), cervical mucus observation and cervical position. Normally you can use these things to determine ovulation using computer software, either on your own PC or on a web site. Search for "Fertility Awareness Method" (or FAM) on the interwebs.

Your only other option is to just have sex every 2 days. That can get pretty old very quickly and can become work, not fun if you do not watch out.

Best of luck with TTC!

Konda, No, I am saying that in general, your doctor will not consider infertility before you have tried to make a baby for 12 months. It is not unnatural for it to take up to 12 months, but after that you should seek help again. After a year, only 16 out of every 100 couples will not be successful on their own. So keep on trying and keep it fun so that it does not become a chore for you and your partner.

This has happen to me! I used to be regular as clockwork give or take a day. Have been TTC since Sept & last 3 periods have been late, the last being a week to the day late which was extremly frustrating. I am hoping its just my body trying to adjust! Fingers crossed x
