im 18, & a virgin and i was supposed too get my period today but i didnt. i usually get them on time for the past year or so. ive been stressing a lot. ive heard it can be a factor. can it be anything else? ive been on a birth control pill to regulate my heavy long periods but i had terrible side effects. this was 3 yrs ago & i do not plan to go back. should i also see a gynecologist or should i still wait?

Hi,
Welcome to ehealthforum.
Stress can delay your periods by upto 10 days. If at end of 10 days from your expected period dates you do not get your periods, then visit your gynecologist for a check. Sudden absence of periods could indicate problems like anovulation (lack of egg release from ovary) or PCOD changes in ovary or hormonal derangements which would require further treatment courses for correction.
