Q: larger gland on the right side of throat

hi,i have recently found that i have a lump on the right side of my throat where the throat glands are..i dont have one on my left and was worried if it was normal or not..i do smoke and recently lost my cousin to cancer in the throat region..i dont have a sore throat nor do i have diff swallowing..im a 39 yr female..thanks

As your problem is lump in right side of throat it seems that it may arise from Thyroid or Lymph node.Please get examined by your family physician and they may conduct some laboratory tests after physical examination besides Ultrasound of Neck if necessary and then one can know whether it arises from Thyroid or Lymph node.
In most of cases additional test like FNAC (fine needle aspiration cytology)may be required as you are smoker to know the nature of the pathology whether benign or malignant(cancerous).
