I noticed that large patches of skin around my anus, between the buttocks and on one side of genital region (scrotum) have darkened in colour dramatically compared to the surrounding area. It wasn't this dark before. In addition some days the skin in the region has a different texture and is scaly. Overall that region is really itchy and it doesn't seem to be a case of dry skin because I tried various lotions and Vaseline. It seems to be spreading. I have not smoke or had any sexual intercourse at all.I appreciate any help. Thanks. If you need pictures to see what I am talking about let me know.

Hello Mike,
Welcome to ehealthforum,
It is difficult to comment on the exact cause for the symptoms of dark and scaly skin patches in genital region that you describe without examining you (to determine other characteristics of the lesions). The exact cause can only be made out after careful examination and evaluation. Consider visiting your doctor/dermatologist at the earliest for thorough examination and further evaluation to look for the underlying cause for the symptoms that you describe. Treatment options as appropriate (based on examination findings and investigations results) would be started/suggested to help you control the symptoms. Be in regular monitoring and follow-up with your treating doctor/dermatologist and report any new/abnormal symptoms immediately. Drink plenty of water.
Take care.
