Based upon the information that you have provided, it is difficult to say what is causing your upper arm pain (although if you've been sleeping on this arm at night, that could certainly be one explanation). If the pain and discomfort persists, then you should consult your personal physician and have him/her evaluate this problem.
It is, of course, impossible to render any diagnosis over the Internet, however, it is especially difficult to diagnose skin disorders, as these require physicial and visual exams. You might want to have that mole looked at by a Dermatologist to make sure that there are no suspicious features present. These features can include an asymmetrical shape, irregular or vague borders (especially if there are small "satellite" areas of pigmentation present outside of the main border of the mole), differences in coloration and/or darkness throughout various portions of the mole (i.e., instead of a relatively uniform single color throughout the lesion), diameter more than about a centimeter (approximately 1/3 of an inch) or a change in the diamater or thickness of the mole, and itching or bleeding.
I hope that this response has been helpful to you.
Sincerely,
Robert A. Wascher, MD, FACS
