gallbladder surgery
I'm seeing a surgeon next week because i've been told my gallbladder isn't functioning and needs to come out. I had a laparoscopic hysterectomy last summer, and a laparoscopic bladder check and uterine suspension a couple of years before that. Will I be able to have my gallbladder removed laparoscopically?

If you've had previous abdominal surgery then it is more likely that you will need open surgery for future operations, due to the possibility of adhesions or unusual organ configurations. More minor or distant operations such as hysterectomy or bladder are less likely to impact on a gallbladder removal. Your surgeon will be able to give you better information based on your exact medical history and current health. It is quite likely that you will start out with a keyhole and then only be switched to open surgery if there is a need for it.
