Although, there are no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women using Lamotrigine, a commonly held view is that this drug is a safe one for an expectant mother and has a low rate of teratogenicity (ability to cause birth defects; lamotrigine was not found to be teratogenic in few studies, but, it was found that lamotrigine decreases fetal folate concentrations in rats, an effect known to be associated with teratogenesis in animals and humans).
This drug should be used during pregnancy only if the potential benefit justifies the potential risk to the fetus.

lamictal and pregnancy
I take lamictal and I am pregnant. This will be my 2nd pregnancy while on lamictal. There is a lamictal pregnancy registry and I have interviewed with them with both pregnancies.
I have for the most part stayed health and mostly seizure free during both pregnancies but they had to raise my dose to keep it at a "normal" level. I am currently 4 months pregnant and when I found out I was pregnant my dosage was 300/300 and currently is at 400/350 to keep my levels stable.
My son, who is now 2.5 years old is a very smart and friendly child who suffered no problems with the lamictal.
What sort of information were you looking for?
