I have always been an active individual until early spring of 07. I finally got the job of my dreams working for a wonderful organization. In Feb of this year I finally had to quit work entirely and spend most of my day lying down and using a wheelchair to get around. The pain started in my right hip and pelvic area and has progressed rapidly. I went through the anti inflammitories with no improvement. I visited my neurosurgeon with the idea that surgery was out of the question but was told that surgery was the only option of relieving the pressure on the nerve. I have thought long and hard on this and have concluded that if I want any quality back in my life that I am going to have to concede to the surgery. My husband has to spend his life in a wheelchair due to post polio and it is killing me to see him have to take on more of the household duties. I can see that my depression is worsening daily. I would love to hear from anyone that has gone though the surgery (laminectomy)and what their outcome has been. Also finances is a big issue for me right now as I no longer have an income, only my husbands disability, and my health insurance is not the best.
