i have felt terrible for the last month and so my doctor just this morning said that we can induce on my due date (8 days from today). i was just wondering what labor was like for you ladies that had your labor induced. also, my cervix has thinned somewhat but i havent dilated yet so hes going to have me come in monday morning and i suppose give me a gel or something on my cervix to help it along and then tuesday morning ill check in to L&D to start the induction. my baby hasnt dropped yet but is head down. im going to hold off but keep the epidural as an option(ive known some women who have had terrible experinces) but i am a weenie when it comes to pain to im going to opt for the pain medication and then if truly terrible ill have the epidural. this is my first baby and im really nervous. can you share some of your stories with me...please?

I was induced with my first daughter at 37 weeks (for medical reasons) & a gel was used on my cervix to soften & dilate it. After about 12 hours of slight cramps I was given a second dose of the gel & things really got going. I had my daughter 10 hours later. For me the pain wasn't too bad until my waters were broken, but after that it wasn't long until she was born. I personally didn't feel the need for an epidural but everyone has different pain thresholds. If you need the epi, go for it.. but do be aware that there are other pain relief options available to you.

Good luck.
