I was in the E.R. yesterday with horrible pain in my stomach.. they did a CAT scan and found something.. they sent me over to have the pelvic ultrascan and found a L shaped mass and appeared to be an ovary.. This would make ovary #3... I have my first ovary removed in 1991.. 7 years ago I had a total hystorectomy... after the Pelvic Ultrasound they found a L shaped mass that appears to be ovary. I have not heard of anyone having a 3rd ovary... they have opened me up each time I had surgery....I don't understand this.. the word "MASS" scares me... I don't have an apptmnt to see my OBGYN for a week.. I am scared and accussed... Please help if you can

Hi,
Welcome to ehealthforum,
If the ovary was left intact during hysterectomy, chances of the ultrasound findings suggesting presence of ovary can be possible. Further evaluation would be needed to confirm the exact cause for the symptoms that you describe along with confirming the origin of the ‘mass’ that was described in ultrasound scan findings. Treatment as appropriate would be started to help you control the symptoms after careful evaluation. Be in regular monitoring and follow-up with your treating doctor/gynecologist and report any new/abnormal symptoms immediately. Drink plenty of water. Take adequate rest. Maintain healthy diet and lifestyle.
Take care.
