L5-S1 buldging discs without nerve compromise
Posted: 07-02-08 16:04pm

Hi I'm a 40 yo registered nurse, and I'm ALWAYS had back pain. I do, through MRI, know that I have these 2 buldging discs. I was also told that they were NOT impinging on my spinal cord OR on the nerve roots.

My issue: Can these buldging discs cause or be the root of my pain even though they are indeed NOT impinging on nerves or am I just plain crazy?

As an example, both sides of my lower back, take turns picking on me and causing problems. Last night I worked, and simply by just leaning a little bit forward, and then to move to straighten, The sharpness of the pain was enough to bring tears to my eyes.

I take celebrex 400 mg daily, I use Lidoderm patched each night before I go to bed, I follow ergodynamics at my job, and have used biofreeze and a gammet of other creams to help dull the pain. Quite frankly I'm at my end and really am having a difficult time dealing with the pain.

Any suggestions?

PS I have had some sucess with a chiropractor in the past and will resume seeing one yet again. It's always a quick fix, and very temporary, unless one can afford to see one daily.

Thank You, Andrea
