Q: Knots around injection site

I am a recovering iv drug abuser. I had been clean for almost three years till the other day. I used in the old sites which are all scars, now i have swelling and knots at the sites. how can i treat these at home and speed the healing process. sad2

Hi Tonya, I'm sorry to hear about your relapse. Are you doing OK? Thinking about stopping?

Only a dermatology specialising in track marks can help you identify the difference between new lesions that require treatment and old lesions. In general, non-healed lesions that are the result of drug injection require immediate attention, especially if they are new the mouth, foot or groin...as these areas are prone to infection and take time to heal.
