Q: Knee products

I've had 3 operations on each knee due to torn lateral meniscus', resulting in a partial menisectomy on each side. I'm getting pain quite often in my right knee, nothing that warrants going to the surgeon about, but enough for it to be uncomfortable to me.

I've really gotta lay off the pain killers, do patella supports, or magnet products work at all? Or is there anything that does relieve throbbing pains?

Welcome to the club!

Yes, I'd suggest that you put the pain killers to the side and start learning how to cope with the injury. Where EXACTLY do you feel pain? Is there any local numbness? Swelling?

It's the lateral part of the knee, where the meniscus is. I've had 40% of it removed, but the remaining 60% is still unstable and flaps about. Last week it moved a great deal, and I heard a massive snap when it went back into place - which leads me to believe it's a further tear.

I've actually got in contact with my surgeon who has recommended that I come and see him. Apparently there's a procedure which may help, but it's not minor surgery. I've no idea what this may be!

But there is no numbing, and slight swelling.

I see. Sorry to hear that you're going through such a difficult moment...but glad to hear that your surgeon called you in. I had a lot of my meniscus removed, which was causing clicking after an initial ACL tear. It was annoying, but now I have real arthritis..and I'm in my early 30's! Let me know what the surgeon recommends...I'd be interested in his diagnosis and options.
