Hello everyone, yesterday i suffered a dislocation of the knee joint while playing golf which resulted in a ride in the air ambulance,i was given morphine at the scene and on arrival at a and e some hour and a half later i was given an injection in the groin to nunb my leg as anyone who has done this knows the pain is unbearable, this is the fourth time i have dislocated my knee(2 EACH SIDE)in what i would call everyday activity,im 35 year old, keen golfer and manual worker, fit and healthy ect,and needless to say at the minute very down. When the effect of the nerve block kicked in i was moved to a room with my missus, awaiting an orthrapeadic surgeon to come and asses how to get my joint in its rightful place i managed to pull it back,it was out for approx 3 hrs, they are still unsure as to whether it was a total joint dislocation as opposed to just pattella dislocation.I am due at the fracture clinic tommorow for an assesmenton possible damage, brief initial assesment showed poss medial ligament damage, and want to discuss all of my options.I an fortunate to have through work private insurance and would like to know if theres a proceedure to try to stop this happening and who in the north east of england is the best person to see for a consultation as i do not want this to ruin my life in terms of activities and work, any info appreciated.Mick

Different options for chronic knee dislocation are
1. knee brace
2. physical therapy/rehab
3. surgery

When you have your consultation with your orthopedic surgeon he will most likely give you these options in this order. You may also want to get your biomechanics evaluated to determine if you are using your knee correctly.
