I'm sorry this is such a long post, but I'm really worried and I really need advice. I'm 24 years old and considered myself to be in pretty good health before a couple months ago. Two months ago I started noticing lots of blood in my urine, so I went to my family doctor. She told me I had a UTI and gave me some antibiotics. About a week after I finished the antibiotics I started having blood in my urine again and was having sharp pains on my left side. I went back to my doctor and she told me I had a kidney infection and gave me some more antibiotics. This time the antibiotics barely helped at all and my pain kept getting worse. I decided to make an appointment with a urologist to be safe. I saw him for the first time about 5 weeks ago. He examined me and sent me for a CAT scan to check for kidney stones. After the scan I was told that I had a large kidney stone on my left side. He decided to use a scope to go up and remove the stone and then he put a stent in afterwards. I got the stent out 3 and a half weeks ago and kept waiting to feel better. A week later I still wasn't feeling better, so my doctor sent me for another CAT scan to make sure there wasn't a fragment of the kidney stone left. This time he said the scan showed that my left kidney was pretty swollen, but there was no blockage or anything else. He put me on 14 days worth of antibiotics. I finished those on Tuesday. It is now Friday and I still don't feel any better. I'm still having severe pain in my left side (just below my rib cage), blood in my urine sometimes, foamy urine, severe nausea, I feel really run down and dizzy all the time and I'm always cold even when no one else is. I saw my doctor today and told him all of this. He took a urine sample and said that my white blood cell count was high. He then sent me for an ultrasound of my kidney, but he didn't tell me the results yet. I'm really worried about all of this because I have a very strong family history of kidney problems. I'm worried that I could be developing kidney disease or some other serious problems because of the family history and all of these symptoms. I've been on different antibiotics for nearly 2 months straight and still none of this is getting better. Has anyone else had any similar problems? Any ideas of what could be causing this? Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
