Hello, and thank you for your medical question on e Health Forum.

The symptoms described indeed appear to be due to inflammation of the tendons in the foot (Plantar Fascitis).

Initial treatment of this condition can be done with NSAIDs (Ibuprofen) and Heel stretching exercises.

In addition, the following measures might also be helpful.

1. Apply ice to the painful area. Do this at least twice a day for 10 - 15 minutes, more often in the first couple of days.

2. Rest as much as possible for at least a week.

3. Wearing a heel cup, felt pads in the heel area, or an orthotic device might also help. Use night splints to stretch the injured fascia and allow it to heal. Wearing properly fitting shoes is also important.

In case these measures are ineffective, then steroid injections into the inflamed site or surgery to release the tight, inflamed fascia becomes necessary.

You might consult your doctor for an examination and proper treatment of the condition.

I hope this helps.
