My husband is a truckdriver and called me yesterday and today saying he has severe pain in his lower back on both sides where his kidneys are. He says it is gradually getting worse. he got no sleep last night and he cannot even sit or lay down by tonight. I am frantic because he is 800 miles away in a work camp. What could this be, and am I right in insisting he travel to the nearest hospital for treatment?

yes! you are right!
ask him to approach nearest hospital!

those who hav stones in kidneys may feel such severe pain!
a truck driver has every possibility,if he is not keeping a habit of drinking more water!

Go straight to the hospital. Either severe dehydration, a urinary tract infection gone untreated (this goes straight up to the kidneys), or kidney stones. All this requires hospitalization.
