Over Last winter I was in the emergency room with un-controlled blood sugar levels and just plain sick at my stomach. Three - four months before I was treated with anti-biotics for a bad gum infection. Then, soon after I had colon colitis and, when it went away I had thrush on my tongue really bad. The pharmacy personnel suggested I use a Probotic to help replace the good bacteria that was killed off by the anti-biotic meds. I did not see the connections at the time so, I did not take any at that time.
My hypoglycemia got worse and my blood sugar levels were going up and down, spiking.
I was trying all sorts of diets suggested by the VA Hospital for the hypoglycemia. I found out later, I had allergies to most of the foods suggested. So, I had a period of time where I was trying out different foods.
I got sick enough to be see at the emergency room on three different occasions. Once, a month at least. The first time the doctors found Ketones in my urine. The second time they did not find any. The third time they found Ketones in my urine again.
I was told that ketones get into your urine samples if you have diabetes but, I have never had any glucose test over 150 mg/dl {Whole Blood readings} The lowest test was 45 mg/dl using the whole blood meter. So how could those ketones get into my urine? Do I need to perform a ketone urine test from home before I bring it up to a doctor.
My story and doctor offices would be too long for me to put it down here. I am a house-bound person at the time. Again, that would be a long story to explain at this time.
I was not told, I had low blood sugar back in 1988. I have been living with the conditon all this time with treating it. What damage could have been done to my body by not treating the hypoglycemia all these years?
