Hello. 28 year old female weighing out the pros and cons of switching to an iud or the mini-pill. I was diagnosed 6 months ago with high blood pressure and my doctor would like to see me get off of my combo pill to see if it will help my bp go back to normal. I am a professional singer and travel quite a bit with my shows. I am very active in my shows and am worried if I get the copper iud, my periods will be too heavy and affect my performances. I am worried about mirena and the mini-pill because in my profession I cannot risk gaining extra weight. That being said, I have not had any noticable weight gain in my 8 years of being on my combination pill. If I switch from the combinatin pill to the mini-pill will I gain weight or notice any side effects??? I am so worried to switch but I know I have to, to save my health!!

well i had the copper IUD for 2 years and honestly my period didn't change at all because that doesn't not have any hormones and can last up to 10 years, now if you get the one mirena (i think that is the name of it) which is made of soft plastic and DOES have hormones you can experience weight gain, havy periods and irregular period NOW all bodies are different your body might react different to a BC then others.

GOOD LUCK ON CHOOSING THE BEST BC FOR YOU!!
