Yesterday, I had a couple fillings done at the dentist, and when it was over and he said to go ahead and close my mouth, we discovered it was stuck open. The assistants took turns getting hot washcloths and massaging the area, and a few times the dentist tried to manipulate it back into place. It finally slipped back into place after a couple hours, just before they were going to send me over to the oral surgeon and be sedated. I have to go back tomorrow to the dentist to finish the fillings, and I'm a bit nervous about my jaw getting stuck again. What would you recommend doing before the appointment to try to keep the muscles (and my nerves!) relaxed. I'm preparing myself for the possibility that it will happen again, but I'd like to do something to try and prevent it.
