I was playing basketball thursday night and i got an elbow on the bottom of my jaw upwards so it basically made my teeth smash together. Afterwards my ears, jaw and teeth all hurt and i bit down on my tongue really bad, one side of it was purple. Well its sunday and my jaw still hurts, my teeth are fine none of them are chipped and they dont hurt when i bite down. I cant open my jaw all the way and the left side of my face by my jaw bone is swollen. i can eat fine unless im eating something like requires me to open my mouth a lot, like a spoon when im eating cereal. Has anyone experienced this or have an idea whats wrong. Will it get better and it is just still hurting from thursday or do you think it is something serious

also i already had TMJ. MY jaw would grind when i opened my mouth to eat an apple or something. But this is totally different know maybe its a worse case of TMJ

Extremely eHealthy
sorry--im on vacation but im trying to get to this

you probably really strained and bruised the muscle--dont eat any thing that requires a lot of chewing--treat it as you would a sprained ankle--eat only a soft diet and apply ice and take ibuprophen. give it a good two weeks to heal and if it doesnt let up get in to a good doctor
