Q: IUI treatment ?

My husband and I are going in for my first round of iui (aka insemination) next week and I was wondering if anyone else here has had it done and what I can expect? I know they'll clean his semen and treat it to make it hyperactive and then put it in me, but how much discomfort, etc. should I expect? And about how long does it take? I'm really nervous, so if anyone has any friendly advice or info that could help, I would be so appreciative. Thank you in advance.
And please, no down talking-I'm an intelligent individual and don't need to be talked down to, especially with all the emotional stress myself and other people in this situation go through.

not quite what I was asking
IUI and IUD are 2 very different things-pretty much complete opposites. IUD is a form of birth control, IUI is intrauterine insemination where they clean the man's sperm and insert it directly into the woman's uterus. Thanks for responding though, I hope you're able to get pregnant soon.

How did it go?
I'm having my first IUI done tomorrow morning. I only had 1 mature follicle on my right ovary. I took the HCG shot last night and today I can feel various pains on my right side...hopefully that means the HCG medicine is working. I'm really hoping this works the first time around. My husband and I have been trying for 7 years. I'm curious if your IUI worked. You posted your question on January 3rd, so by now you should know if you are pregnant. Was the procedure painful?

Any info would be great!

Thanks - Brie

IUI and the special nurse
I had 2 IUI with Clomid and the third one was with Gonal F. All 3 times, there were 2-3 mature follicles, measuring 15-17mm. Each round of IUI involved two days of back to back inseminations. So is a total of 6 inseminations. Insemination 1-5 did not hurt, but you definitely feel the pressure as the nurse is injecting the sperm. It took about 10-20 seconds. After that they told me I can get dressed and continue with my normal activity. On the 6th one, I had a special nurse, I truely believe it was her technique that made all the difference. She injected the sperm so slowly that I didn't even know she was doing it. I did not feel any pressure. It took here like 2 minutes! After that she advised me to just lie there for 5-10 minutes and I did. Now I am 1 month pregnant Smile Good luck to those that are trying, hang in there, and I hope your wishes comes true.

I will also have my IUI, maybe in October. My sister had done the procedure before and she says it's not painful. It is just a simple procedure. I hope you had success with the IUI...

I did the Gonal F pen and as of an hour ago I did the actual iui procedure. Now I wait the two weeks...and the procedure was easy enough. Slight cramping when it was been injected but that's it. A little bleeding now but it's fine.
