Does anyone have any experience with this? What is the risk of septic abortion/death of mother, or premature birth with an IUD in pregnancy?

Vaginal and Uterus Health Answer A4652
Current medical status: The IUD is in its correct place as visualized on US, and the embryo is implanted in its correct place. The IUD cannot be taken out and has had two attempts. I have to make a decision to either terminate the pregnancy or keep both the IUD and the preg and hope for the best. I am advised to terminate by one doctor, and another said to carry it to term and hope for the best, and the IUD will come out with the baby.

Current medical treatment: none

It doesn't seem that there is a great risk for septic abortion or the mother's death. But there is a risk for miscarriage or premature birth. Your case is vary rare so it is really hard to make a prognosis.

It seems that if you like the baby you could try to deliver it. If you don't like the baby you should abort it as soon as possible.
