Q: IUD removed without parents consent ?

Ok so im 17 and i have had Paragard IUD in place for a little over a year now and i want it out! Can i do this without parental consent? My mom says no until im 18... Please help if you have ANY advice!!

Certainly not. Why do you want it out? If it is to have a baby - I would tell you that you are too young and that the best years of your life are to come. Listen to your Mother - she knows what is best for you.

Yes you can do it without parental consent (in most places). Now, I do not know why you might want it out so I am going to assume that it is because it is hurting you or you have some nasty side effects. If that is the case, talk to your mother and see if there is another birth control option for you out there.

Perhaps not. I had an IUD fitted in november and it has made my periods horrible, i bleed throught a super plus extra tampon AND a sanitary towel so needless to say mine is coming OUT

I agree with you Dannz. It can often cause discomfort and horrible periods. I would suggest to the OP, if its the type of birth control she is on that is bugging her in any way, to talk to her mother about a different type of protection.
