I have been having trouble going to the bathroom for about 6 months now. I have a pretty good diet no milk products and not much fatty foods drink lots of water. Problem is i might so to the bathroom once in 2or3 days most of the time I feel bloated and constipated. My rectal area is itchy and there is a stinging sensation. I told my doctor and he said that try more fiber and he told me to get an over the counter digestive cleaning drink Citric acid and that helped for a week but then just like a stopped up pipe it happened again. I feel tired all the time no energy moody and i feel in pain most of the time on my sides and in my lower back what do you think could be the cause and what should i do about it?

Unfortunately, there are many possible causes for the symptoms that you describe (due to both benign and malignant diseases). Therefore, perhaps it's time for your doctor to refer you to a GI specialist for further evaluation, including possible colonoscopy.
