About 6 months ago I got a itchy bump that appeared where my back and buttock meet. It quickly spread from there, changing from a bump to more of a red slightly raised skin irritation that began to creep down the right side of my inner buttock, not necessarily moving toward the anus so much as just following the curve of my inner buttock. The itching became even more intense and it bled easily. Though I admit I scratched it, the amount of bleeding seemed extreme compared to the intensity of my scratching (lightly, though it felt so good I wanted to scratch much harder). Of course, after it bled, the next day it was very sore and felt like I had a huge scab. It didn't look as bad as it felt but it definitely got worse and has since made its way from where it started to all the way down my right buttock, stopping near my leg. It feels like the skin directly beneath it is hard & in some parts almost feels like a marble sized lump is under the skin. I've tried all the anti-fungal creams. I'm frustrated and at a loss as to how to get rid of it. I'm uninsured so I hesitate to go to the doctor about it but it's looking like that's what I'm going to have to do. Just hoping someone else knows what this could be and might have an idea of how I can treat this first. I'd definitely be grateful. Help!!

Id' suggest that you see a dermatologist. Although a fungal infection is possible, you might also be experiencing the symptoms of a bacterial infection and.or viral infection. It's best to get a skin condition SEEN before treating it!

I've had something very similar (the red ichy bump where the back and buttocks meet) only it didn't spread. This happens periodically and I usually treat it by putting bacitration cream on it and the last time it happened I covered it with a band-aid. I thought that if I used cotton underwear instead of nylon it would help. This has happened to me periodically and I have no idea what causes it. Although I have consulted my Dermotologist about my ichy patches on my back - he told me that it was due to "irritated nerve endings," I have not asked him about the other ichy red bump. The ichiness on my back doesn't involve a red bump, but there is a patch of darker skin there. I wonder if anyone has any information or ideas because I'm reluctant to ask my Dermotologist about it.
